Back pain a common ailment for men and women

Back pain is a common ailment as men and women are equally affected at the age of 30 and above due to the aging process but also as a result of sedentary life style.

Job-related disability, missed work and exerciser are the common cause of lower back pain. Others injuries seen most in doctor's offices and chiropractic clinics worldwide involve the lower back region, and can occur from a variety of different causes. Some of the injuries in the region are lower back muscle pulls or tears, disc inflammation, or the spine itself. These three types of lower back injuries can occur from falling, stretching, lifting, sleeping in an awkward position, or in some cases, no noticeable reason at all.

Most occurrences of lower back pain go away within a few days. Most acute back pain is mechanical in nature, the result of trauma to the lower back. Others might take much longer to resolve or lead to more serious conditions.

It is always best to consult your doctor or physical therapist if you had lower back pain as your doctor or therapist can give you the right medication or massage.

Acupuncture treatment of lower back pain

Pain is most often centered in the lower back, and is present in two types: acute, and chronic. The acute form comes quickly and is profound. This is often associated with some sort of physical activity and over exertion or incorrect body stance. The pain as a rule, lasts only a short period. On the other hand, chronic pain continues in a repetitious manner. Any sort of motion can activate the pain, and it stays relentlessly.

The lower back bears much of the body's weight. The soundness of the vertebra and intervertebral disks are the framework of the lower back. Over a period, many will experience injury to their backs. The back is a complex structure of bone ligaments and muscles, with major nerves disks and joints, and if misused, can fail. Disks can be ruptured, ligaments can sprain, and muscles can be strained. Often these injuries are caused by accidents or sports related incidents.

Acupuncture has a small but significant benefit for patients with low back pain, and appears to be cost-effective in the longer term, Acupuncture has been classified as a medical device for general use, and must be used by trained professionals. it is difficult to determine the exact value of acupuncture, as back pain often leaves unexpectedly. It is then, hard to decide if in fact it is the treatment or a spontaneous response as normal. The conclusion is that back pain is caused by many underlying conditions and may need more than one form of treatment to be successful.
Acupuncture could provide cost-effective and long-lasting treatment for low back pain, one of the most common and difficult-to-treat medical problems in healthcare.
Acupuncture has become an accepted treatment for the condition in both the US and Europe. But clinical evidence of its effectiveness has been equivocal.

Low back pain - chiropractic care

Back problems can be caused by an extraordinarily wide range of problems. Some of them originating elsewhere in the body, but with pain being transmitted to areas of the back by the nervous system. Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical attention. It is the symptom that prompts most patients who get chiropractic care. The majority of backache sufferers complain of pain in the lower back, the second most common site of discomfort is the base of the neck.

If you've ever had low back pain, you know that your doctor of chiropractic may try several different procedures to make you feel better. While some chiropractors may simply adjust your back, others may offer a variety of treatments ranging from heat to certain exercise routines. A recent study compared the effectiveness of these other treatments, and found that a combination of heat and exercise worked better than either therapy by itself.

If you suffer from low back pain, talk to your doctor of chiropractic about what treatments may work best for you. Chiropractic isn't just for back pain anymore. Regular chiropractic care has been shown to, among other things, relieve chronic headache and arthritis pain as well as relieve stress and promote general health.

Chiropractic also places an emphasis on nutritional and exercise programs, wellness and lifestyle modifications for promoting physical and mental health. While chiropractors make no use of drugs or surgery, Doctors of chiropractic do refer patients for medical care when those interventions are indicated.
